Basecamp_018 - April Tech Leaders’ Meet-Up
Location: WeWork, 2 Minister Court, London, EC3R 7BB
Topic: Delegation and the subtle art of letting go
At some point in every business, growth stops being about how much you can do yourself and starts depending on how well you can build through others.
This month’s Basecamp focuses on one of the most important and most uncomfortable transitions founders face: delegation and letting go.
In the first session, we’ll get practical. We’ll break down the mechanics of delegation with what to delegate, what not to, and how to hand over work in a way that actually gets done properly. We’ll explore common failure points, why tasks come back to you, and how to create the clarity, standards, and feedback loops that allow your team to take real ownership. This is about moving beyond “help” and starting to build capability in your business.
In the second session, we’ll shift focus to the founder. Because delegation is rarely just a process problem it’s a mindset and identity shift. Letting go can feel risky. It can feel slower. It can feel like a loss of control. We’ll explore why founders hold on for too long, what changes as you move through the stages of the Ascent Framework, and how your role needs to evolve if the business is going to grow beyond you.
As always, this will be a working session. You’ll have the opportunity to reflect on where you are, share experiences with others facing the same challenges, and identify the next step in your own business—whether that’s handing over a task, a responsibility, or a decision.
How Basecamp Works:
Basecamp sessions are founder-led, discussion-driven, and practical.
You’ll learn by:
working through your own situation
listening to how others describe theirs
spotting patterns, shortcuts, and blind spots together
Jim will guide the conversation, keep it focused, and introduce simple frameworks where helpful — but the real value comes from the group thinking it through in real time.
Then it’s all #upandtotheright 🚀
